According to clinical trial on Bio Oil, 65% of the subjects tested exhibited an improvement in the appearance of their scars within 4 weeks. Bio Oil asserts that its formula effective in treating aging and dehydrated skin as well.

Bio OilThe Verdict on Bio Oil
Although Bio Oil seems to have undergone extensive clinical testing, it does not appear to be effective on treating all types of scars. Similar to the effects of silicone, Bio Oil does seem to provide added hydration which has shown to improve the appearance of some scars. One major drawback of Bio Oil, however, is its use of mineral oil as its main ingredient. Mineral oil can clog pores and promote acne in many people which can actually lead to acne scars on the face. The reviews for Bio Oil are mixed at best and our staff did not rank this very high among the scar treatments that we've tested.
