Scar Esthetique: Does Scar Esthetique work?
Scar Esthetique Review
While Scar Esthetique does contain some silicone based ingredients, it may not be the best scar treatment available since it is diluted with so many unproven ingredients like onion bulb extract. This review will examine the benefits and drawbacks of Scar Esthetique and offer alternatives in reducing the appeance of scars.
Created by Scar Heal, Scar Esthetique is a scar cream that claims to reduce the appearance of scars by using multiple treatment methods. It contains silicone, which is perhaps one of the most effective means of diminishing scars, onion extract, and a combination of various anti-oxidants and vitamins. While onion extract has become a popular method of reducing scars, there is no clinical evidence showing its effectiveness. Likewise, the use of anti-oxidants and topical vitamins could influence the formation of collagen within scar tissue, but they have not been proven to reduce the appearance of old scars.

The Verdict on Scar Esthetique
Although the use of dimethicone in treating scars has shown to be effective at reducing their appearance, the efficacy of silicone seems to be reduced when diluted with an over-abundance of ingredients. It seems that silicones effectiveness derives greatly from its ability to form an impermeable barrier over the scar and may even increase the negative static charge which is believed to help minimize the scar tissue. Some scar treatment products contain multiple unproven ingredients which may dilute the products effectiveness.
