Scar Zone: Does Scar Zone Work?

Scar Zone Review

While Scar Zone appears to be a somewhat effective silicone based scar treatment, it may not be the best option available due to the fact that the silicone gel is diluted with sunscreen and other ingredients.  This review will examine the benefits and drawbacks of Scar Zone and offer alternatives in effective silicone based scar treatments.

Scar Zone Topical Scar Diminishing Cream is designed to help improve the look of existing hypertrophic and keloid scars.  The active ingredient in Scar Zone is dimethicone, a silicone gel that recent research has shown helps in softening and smoothing scar tissue.  Scar Zone uses the potent antioxidants naturally found in green tea to balance the skin tone around scars and restore it to healthy looking skin.

Benefits of Scar Zone

  • Can be used on new and old scars
  • Contains Dimethicone, an effective silicone gel used in treating scars
  • Can be worn under makeup

Drawbacks of Scar Zone

  • Silicone may be diluted by sunscreen and other ingredients
  • Not clinically tested

The Verdict on Scar Zone
scar zoneFor years, researchers have been studying the benefits of silicone gels in the treatment of scars.  Scar Zone is yet another scar treatment using silicone in an attempt to help fade the appearance of hypertrophic and keloid scars, but all evidence of silicone’s benefits suggest that it works best without the addition of other substances diluting its effects.  Unfortunately, like so many other silicone based scar treatments, Scar Zone attempts to enhance their formula with things like sunscreen and onion extract which have not proven benefits in treating scars and may in fact lessen the effectiveness of the silicone.  Our staff believes that the most effective scar treatments are the ones composed primarily of silicone.
