Zen Med: Does Zen Med Work?

Zen Med Review

While the Zenmed Scar Treatment Kit is somewhat effective at reducing the appearance of acne scars, it is not very effective at treating other forms of scar tissue.  This review will examine the benefits and drawbacks of using Zenmed’s Scar Treatment Kit to minimize the visibility of scars and offer safe and effective alternatives in over-the-counter scar treatments.

Like other forms of scarring, acne scars are the result of a wound to the skin that leaves behind and excess of collagen after it heals.  These scars can show up as discolorations or result in a pitted appearance to the skin.  One method of treating this type of scarring is through a process of dermabrasion and skin peel.  This is typically an expensive procedure performed by an esthetician but is now offered through at-home treatments like Zenmed.  The Zenmed Scar Treatment Kit is a combination of a dermabrasion system and a safe esthetician-grade peel that is designed to reduce the appearance of scars in 8-10 treatments.

Zenmed Drawbacks

zen medThe Verdict on Zenmed
While there have been some studies that have demonstrated the effectiveness of ablative treatments like dermabrasion to reduce the appearance of scars, such forms of scar reduction are not effective on all scars and skin types.  In some instances, the brightening effects of ingredients like glycolic acid may actually make scars appear more prominent during treatment.  Additionally, Zenmed does not seem to have the same level of effectiveness as other forms of scar treatment like silicone gels.  Combined with Zenmed’s high price, these factors make it difficult to recommend this product.
